Adventure Chat #12 - Adventurous Foods

img_8044.jpg

When I began participating in Twitter chats I loved the amount of interacting and great information I was seeing. I also noticed that most chats were about travel. While I love traveling, I am more of an adventure junkie and enjoy local activities like camping and hiking and the occasional road trip. So, I started my own Twitter chat called #adventurechat on Monday’s at 10 am pst. It’s a fun and informative way for me to learn from everyone else’s adventures. I’ve had more than one person ask me for a blog transcript so here we go. I’ve taken out all retweets and responses that are confusing as well as putting all Q and A’s in order. While the pictures were beautiful I do not have the right to include them here but they are all a part of the full transcript on Travelogx.com. For my twelfth chat, my co-host was chef and culinary extraordinaire @JHochstat talking Adventurous Foods. Here are the questions and transcripts from that chat.

QUESTIONS:

1. What was the most adventurous thing you've ever eaten/were you able to finish it?

2. Where is the furthest you've traveled on a day trip to experience food/drinks?

3. Ever been invited to an event with food where you ran into culture shock but stayed?

4. When you're out with adventurous eaters do you have a phrase that sums you up? Mine is #nofear #noallergies.

5. What is the spiciest thing you've ever eaten? Pictures? Worth it the next day?

6. What local (maybe illegal) liquors have you drank on your travels?

7. Have you ever been in another country and come across a condiment new (to you), tasty, and kicks? Description/Pictures.

8. Have you ever taken an ATV or any alternative type of transportation to get to a certain place for food?

• @K8eBG A4. Will it kill me? #adventurechat

@BenOnAdventures Mine is just be open minded, positive, try it. Just think: some people don't get to eat what you're eating #adventurechat

@funkey_brewster A4 you won't know if you like it until you try it-at least once. #adventurechat #momsadvice

• @vagabondslog A4: "You'll never know unless you try." And, my personal motto: "Fortune favours the bold." ;-)

@caliparksorg A4. Pass the dish! But #NoEyeballs. I draw the line #AdventureChat

@pintsizegourmet A4: We try anything once (or twice) before forming an opinion! #adventurechat

@K8eBG if it is a staple or a regular food item I like to experience the culture fully! #adventurechat

• @BRBearBait A4: Mine is "No cheese please." Picky eater over here #adventurechat

@walkaboutmobi A4: "I'll try anything once." There might not be a second time, but I will give it one try. #adventurechat

@suzeroonie A4 Be respectful! This could be a delicacy somewhere else, and you've been invited to share someone's culture. #adventurechat

@momfari A4 Sorry to be late to #adventurechat! I'm all 4 adventure but not exactly w/food. I'll give you one phrase: strong gag reflex.

• @iTraqTag A4: My adventurous eating 'sum-up' phrase would be: "Is its head still attached?" #adventurechat twitter.com/JHochstat/stat…

@BenOnAdventures The hottest wings at Buffalo Wild Wings (whatever they're called) dipped in this spicy BBQ sauce #adventurechat

@BenOnAdventures I'm not a drinker in any capacity. I'm a firm believer in the body's a temple idea, just staying real healthy. #adventurechat

• @JHochstat A6: If you don't know, Pastis is "properly" enjoyed 1 part liquor to 4 parts water. Lesson learned #adventurechat

@BRBearBait A6: Absinthe and moonshine, though it's pretty easy to get moonshine in the south now #adventurechat

@UST_Survival A6: We're in the South East. Moonshine is everywhere, legal and illegal. #adventurechat
