The realization that I can work from anywhere, combined with filming a travel show around the country has given me new perspective when I go to new cities. Every time I travel it is now with the mindset of “Could I live here?”
when I was invited to try my hand at skiing again last year at Mountain High Ski Resort I was excited but cautiously nervous as well. As soon as I got there, I realized this would be a TOTALLY different experience.
Nomadik is an adventure subscription box that arrives every month with new outdoor goodies. I just received my second box and I’m so excited to tell you all about it and what kinds of things you can expect when you subscribe!
True California beach towns are going extinct. All up and down the coast, former strongholds of surf and bohemian culture are being transformed into exclusive neighborhoods for wealthy transplants. Five-star restaurants have been replaced with taco stands, while million dollar mansions now loom where beach bungalows once stood.
However, there are exceptions to this growing rule.
DON’T GET A DOG! I heard it soooo many times throughout my life. First, I was too young, then I was too busy, next it was “wait until you’re married and have help”, and finally “you travel too much” (YUP!) The truth is, like any big decision; starting a job, quitting a job, moving, having kids, or having a dog…there really is no “right time” to make the leap.
The Women in Travel Summit is full of amazing panels ranging from working with brands, to family or solo travel, to diversity in adventure, and so on. It’s a place where everyone is welcome and we build each other up. I’ve made amazing friendships and collaborations from this event.
I LOVE New Years! And not because of the ball drop or the midnight kissing. I love it because it’s full of hope and promise. It’s the one time of the year when it seems like everyone just got out of Tony Robbins convention and is excited about life.
With the New Year right around the corner, celebrations are sure to ensue! For those lucky enough to travel during the holiday, there are tons of amazing traditions all across the globe. Each country has their own, unique way of ringing in the New Year and celebrating what’s to come.
I’m not sure if it’s missing the midwest snow, dreaming of mountains, or too many Hallmark movies that take place in lodges, but I’ve always wanted to spend the holidays at a mountain lodge. After staying at Tenaya Lodge near Yosemite, I see why; it’s magical!
I've been afraid of almost everything I've done on this show which has made it all such an epic adventure and helped me grow so much as a person. I try to stick within my safety limits and hover right between exhilarating and scary. Little did I know a place like Pismo Beach would push me right to that edge!
I never believed that where you stayed could make the trip. I always figured the destination was the only thing that mattered and then give me a motel, a tent, my car, or even just the ground to close my eyes in between adventures. And then I stayed at the Springs Resort and Spa in Costa Rica. Talk about luxury and bringing a vacation to another level!
IT’S CHRISTMAS! IT’S CHRISTMAS! IT’S CHRISTMAS!!! Anyone else get this excited for the holiday season? Every year for my level of holiday excitement, there is an equal level of confusion and slight panic when it comes to buying presents.
One year ago my life changed. One year ago I began what I should call chapter 2 (or chapter 237 but who’s counting the amount of times I’ve started over now). And it all began at the Devil’s Punchbowl…
Moments like these are sometimes hard to find. Those beautiful perfect moments where you are so present and grateful to be right there, right then, that before you know it tears are brimming at your eyelids. And it's even more incredible when those moments come unexpectedly.
I've been creating and hosting Monica Goes for over two years now and I have a confession...YouTube scares me. This entire social media, blogging, and vlogging world scares me! I feel a bit old and late to the game. When I started, I had to google "how to use twitter". All I ever wanted to do was host and inspire people to go on adventures!
When I started this show I had no idea what it would become. All I knew was that taking adventures, pushing out of my comfort zone, and inspiring people to do the same was something that meant a lot to me and that this was a way for me to share that. I had no idea how much it would change my life! Five minutes into shooting the first episode I knew that this was what I was meant to do for the rest of my life!
Reflecting back on 2016 brings tears to my eyes. And not in the way people would expect. This year has bent, twisted, and broken me in more ways than I can count. One year ago I never would have imagined that the future I was planning would never come to pass and that all of my plans would blow up in my face...
Not sure if any of you deal with this dilemma like I do, but when I travel I want to relax and live completely in the moment...and yet I work, I hustle, and I try to stay on top of everything connected with the show.
For me it was a way to start. A way to learn about this whole hosting thing and taking videos when I'm out and about. I never could have dreamed the show would take off and get to the point where it is today. And all shot on my iPhone!
Yesterday was the most inspiring and emotionally fulfilling day I've ever had. I witnessed the most beautiful acts of humanity and even though the world can seem like a dark, heartless, and scary place right now, I felt the need to let you know, we're still ok.
Almost everyone has a customer service job at some point in their life; whether it be a restaurant, hotel, store, etc. I began working in the restaurant industry when I was 15 at a corporate pizza place.
